Amanda Holiday

50 wall-mounted dinner plate collages exploring taste, hunger, greed, desire and need, collectively they tell a fiction of modern eating played out in an age of austerity and food-banks.

A selection were presented at A3 Project Space with 20% of sale price donated to SIFA Fireside based in Digbeth to support the provision of free hot food for hundreds of people each week.

Born in Sierra Leone, artist Amanda Holiday came to the UK at the age of 5. After completing a degree in Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art, her work was exhibited in landmark black art shows across the UK. Holiday moved into film and scriptwriting and between 2001 and 2010 she lived in Cape Town and wrote and directed several educational TV series. After a break, she resumed drawing in 2008 and since returning to live in the UK in 2010, her work has been shown at INIVA, cueB gallery (solo), ArtLounge, Bargehouse, Southbank, Fairfields Arts Centre, Lewisham Library and Harts Lane Studios.
