Each student was allocated a personal tutor, an experienced who would guide them through the process and support them to develop their ideas. The tutors were Phil Duckworth, Andrew Jackson, Ben Sadler, Marlene Smith, Cathy Wade, Emily Warner and Olivia Winteringham
The Summer Show displays the results of their research, experiments and making processes, each student deciding how their work is presented in the gallery. Some of their work has also been located in the park and in mac’s foyer; some artists are performing live in the gallery.
The artworks are as diverse as the artists who took part, however, a few key themes have emerged: An exploration of personal identity

The graphic identity for Cannon Hill Art School created by Keith Dodds and the exhibition structure designed by Juneau Projects were both inspired by the ideas and work of Josef Albers who taught at the Bauhaus, Germany and Black Mountain College, USA.
Each student customised their own pigeon hole so audiences can pick up info about the artist and leave a message for them
Cannon Hill Art School library was created from books donated by galleries from the West Midlands including; Ikon Gallery, New Art Gallery Walsall, Article Press (The Art School, Birmingham) and Eastside Projects. Books have also been donated by artists from the region and Cannon Hill Art School students.
